WHAT IS THE JOB?

Northern Star Scouting, based out of St. Paul, MN is seeking camp counselors age 15 and older that are interested in work with Scouts age 11-17 (Scouts BSA) or age 6-10 (Cub Scout).

WHERE IS IT?

Northern Star Scouting has camps throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin.

WHEN DO I WORK?

For our Scouts BSA Operations, you live onsite from early June through late August. For our Cub Scout operations, full time and part time (weekends) opportunities are available.

WHAT IS THE PAY?

For our full time 21+ year old positions, salary starts at $4,000, plus room and board.
For our full time 18+ year old positions, salary starts at $2700, plus room and board.
For our full time 15+ year old positions, salary starts at $1500, plus room and board.

WHAT BACKGROUND DO I NEED?

While a Scouting background is preferred, it is not required. Before campers arrive each camp offers a comprehensive training week to help prepare you for your job. For positions with specialty skills, (i.e. Climbing Tower, Shooting Sports, Aquatics) additional training is provided prior to your arrival at camp.

OPEN POSITIONS FOR THE 2019 SUMMER SEASON!

The below positions are still available and we’d love to fill them!

1. Program Staff – Full Time (age requirement: 18+):

Run programs for youth ages 6 – 17. Specific responsibilities vary based on camp and specific position. Possibilities include lifeguarding, supervising craft projects, leading games, supervising archery/sling shots and teaching skills.

Locations: Stearns (St Cloud, MN), Tomahawk (Rice Lake, MN)

2. Trading Post (Store) Operator (2) (age requirement: 18+)

Responsible for managing the camp store, keeping the floor clean and organized, and maintaining an accurate inventory. Other duties may include program photography, restocking supplies throughout camp, and assisting with check-in and check-out. Basic computer skills required.

Locations: Stearns (St. Cloud, MN), Tomahawk (Rice Lake, WI)

3. Kitchen Staff (5) (age requirement: 15+)

Looking for full time cooks, prep cooks, dishwashers, and truck drivers. All levels of positions available.

Locations: Kiwanis (Stillwater, MN) Phillippo (Cannon Falls, MN), Stearns (St Cloud, MN)

4. ATV Instructor (1) (age requirement: 21+):

Facilitate the ATV training program for our older Scout programs. Lead a group of 6-8 youth through a safety training course followed by a trail ride. Training is provided before camp to familiarize staff with program and procedures.

Locations: Tomahawk (Rice Lake, WI)

5. Outpost Director (2) (age requirement: 21+):

Oversee the Huck Finn Outpost for our older Scout programs. Working with an assistant provide program and lifeguarding supervision for a group of 12+ youth who stay overnight on a floating raft. Advanced swimming skills and lifeguard training preferred. Training is provided before camp to familiarize staff with program and procedures.

6. Aquatics Director (1) (age requirement: 21+):

Oversees the safe and fun operation of the aquatics program. Program includes open swim, boating and swim instruction. Supervises other staff when they support the aquatics programs. Advanced swimming skills and lifeguard training preferred. If needed, lifeguard course will be provided. Training is provided before camp to familiarize staff with program and procedures.

7. Climbing Tower Director (3) (age requirement: 21+):

Oversees the safe and fun operation of the climbing program at an artificial climbing wall. Program includes group climbs, open climbing sessions and climbing skills training. Supervises other staff when they support the climbing programs. Training is provided before camp to familiarize staff with program and procedures.

8. Health Office Staff (age requirement: 18+)

Provide basic first aid to participants who are injured. Basic CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
