UPDATED 11/12 — COVID19 AND NORTHERN STAR SCOUT MEETINGS AND PROGRAMMING
11/12/2020 Northern Star has read the restrictions contained in the State of Minnesota Emergency Executive Order 20-96. After learning more about the order and its intent, and consulting with the Minnesota Dept of Health and the American Camping Association, much of the order does not apply to current volunteer and council lead activities. Northern Star activities currently follow guidelines from the “Youth Programming Procedures” provided by the MN Department of Health and are not defined as social gatherings because of the safety measures in place.
With one change (no eating or drinking indoors), units may continue to hold unit meetings, programmatical gatherings and campouts and outings. All units should be and must continue to follow the guidance in the “Unit Restart Guide” to meet safely and reduce the risk of COVID transmission. The unit restart guide can be found on this page, in the related articles section. If your unit is unable or unwilling to meet the guidelines in this restart guide you should NOT be holding in-person gatherings.
Some units may not feel comfortable meeting in person, so meeting virtually or utilizing Scouting at Home materials is always an option. Volunteers should also pay attention to local restrictions and follow as appropriate.
