Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster Position-Specific Training (classroom component) – At October Roundtable

Scoutmaster Position-Specific training is the BSA’s initial level of training for the top leaders of Boy Scout troops. It is designed for Scoutmasters, assistant Scoutmasters, and junior assistant Scoutmasters. However, committee members and other adults connected to a Boy Scout troop are welcome to attend.441

When Scoutmaster Position-Specific training AND Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) have BOTH been completed, new Scoutmasters will have the tools needed to begin an effective Boy Scouting program.  Both  classes are required to meet the Journey 2.0 “Position-Trained” requirement deadline of October 31, 2016.

  1. Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) is available at Three Rivers Carver Park in Victoria on Sept 30-Oct 1, presented by the Lake Minnetonka District.
  2. Scoutmaster Position-Specific Training (classroom training component) is available at the University of Scouting on October 29th OR at the October Roundtable on October 6th beginning at 5:30PM.*

* Scoutmasters and Troop Committee Chairs, do you have a Scoutmaster, assistant Scoutmaster, or a parent who is interested in getting trained and needs the Scoutmaster Postition-Specific Training (classroom training component)? Lake Minnetonka District is offering the three-hour classroom training  prior to and during the October roundtable meeting starting at 5:30PM. For those of you unable to attend the classroom meeting at 5:30PM, come at 7:00PM for the balance of the classroom training and then attend the make up session for the earlier part you missed, on October 26th at 8PM at the Ridgedale Public Library, First Floor Meeting Room.

This training will complete the requirement for those Scouters and parents who  (1) attended the Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) at University of Scouting last spring, or (2) attended the district’s Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills  (IOLS) last September, or (3) plan to attend the district’s Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills  (IOLS) course this September at  Three Rivers Carver Park in Victoria on Sept 30-Oct 1 .

The three-hour Scoutmaster/ Assistant Scoutmaster Position-Specific Training (classroom training component) will be scheduled and completed prior to the October 31, 2016 Journey 2.0 Training deadline.
