What to expect at this month’s Roundtable Meeting
The monthly District Roundtable meeting provides an information and training forum for adults involved as leaders in the Scouting program. Parents and children are welcome to attend. These meetings allow attendees from all parts of the Scouting program to:
◾ Discuss topics of interest, both formally and informally
◾ Learn new skills and program topics for your unit
◾ Learn about upcoming District and Council events
◾ Meet and exchange ideas with other leaders from the District
Roundtable is open to all adults involved with the Scouting program. Registered leaders are especially encouraged to attend.
LOCATION: Minnetonka Community Center 14600 Minnetonka Blvd, Minnetonka, MN 55345
The October RT usually covers my new den leaders/committee members for their position training. Will this year’s RT meet this requirement? Thanks.
Hi Matt – Tina responded to you in email, but posting for all.
For Leader Position Training, we recommend doing the training online or at the University of Scouting. The Training has changed and now runs over 3 hours (which we aren’t able to do in 1.5 hours).
The training that we are doing IS going to be really helpful however. We are doing the “beyond the book” training. It will be like a panel discussion-style training of “here’s what you read in the training, and now here’s how we’ve found makes that work”… training to help make the overwhelming blast of new job responsibilities become more manageable and realistic through talking with people who have done it… Extremely helpful Q&A session with the folks that have been there and done that… for all of the different levels of leaders and committee members… with room for committee chairs and Cubmasters to break off, if needed… we’ll handle that on-site, based on attendees.
Will there be re-charter training at this roundtable. The invite includes it, but I don’t see anything listed in the what to expect.
It will be first go at a re-charter:) and also would be my first roundtable.
Hi Christina,
Thanks for the inquiry! Yes, there will be re-charter training at the October Roundtable. I hadn’t realized that it wasn’t listed in the “what to expect”.
We have a SUPER trainer to help with re-charter, so you will be in good hands.
Welcome to Roundtable, and I look forward to seeing you more and more in the future!
Hi Christina – based on the announcement about rechartering being delayed (http://www.northernstar.org/news/bsa-membership-fee-to-increase) we will not have the recharter training this Thursday. As we know more, we will be sure to publish news and make sure that you have the training you need successfully recharter.
