Joint – Roundtable Opening – Flags and Announcements

  1. Pick up your  Family Friends of Scouting Packet
  2. Send Us Your Youth Roster – Key Unit Leaders, Unit Recharter will be underway soon. We need to know who is registered with your unit now to ‘be prepared’ and to help reconcile your membership records with the council’s records. This is the same information you are going to need when you begin the recharter process. We are asking that each unit supply a youth unit roster using the this survey form. Follow this link in order to upload your roster in any format you choose. This process will save time later this fall when you complete your recharter!
  3. Submit Your Famly FOS Dates online  or come to roundtable with Your Family FOS Information. The information needed includes the following: the name of the FOS Coordinator for your unit, the email address of the FOS Coordinator, the date and time of your Family FOS presentation, and an alternative date and time for your family FOS presentation. Dates must be scheduled with the district by November 15th to qualify for free pinewood derby cars for packs or rank advancement recognition items for Troops and Crews.

Joint – Big Rock Topic

This month’s big rock topic will be about the BSA’s STEM program.  Discussion will include a quick look at what is STEM and its history in Scouting, the Nova and Supernova awards to scouts at all levels, how to become a STEM Counselor and event ideas/ways to implement STEM in your units.

Boy Scout – Boy Scout Breakout Program

There will be a short presentation by Brett Scheinder on the upcoming OA election season.  Afterwards we will also build on this month’s Big Rock topic.  In addition to the Nova and Supernova awards available to Boy Scouts we will also look at the National Outdoor Achievements Awards, World Conservation Awards, Religious Emblems, International Spirit Award and other non-advancement awards.  Many of these awards can be built into the program year.  We would once again like to invite unit SPLs to join us to discuss their thoughts and challenges.

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the numerous awards other than advancement that Scouts at all ages can earn.  See you at Roundtable.

Cub Scouts – Cub Scout Breakout Program

The Cub Scout Breakout will build on this month’s Big Rock will be a hands-on presentation on how to make STEM fun in the packs, with two STEM experiments and a discussion on how to get the Scouts excited about STEM lessons.

OA Chapter Meeting

The Order of the Arrow is a “Brotherhood of Scout Honor Campers”, often referred to as the Brotherhood of Cheerful Service. We are a group of people who have been elected by our peers as being capable of upholding the honor through our continued actions of cheerful service to others. It is a youth-run organization, meaning that all important decisions are made by the youth (age 20 or less) under advisement of the adult Advisors.

Meetings of the Lake Minnetonka Chapter of the Totanhan Nakaha Lodge, Order of the Arrow, are held in conjunction with the district roundtables on the first Thursday of each month.

7:00 – 8:30 – OA Chapter Meeting During Roundtable

Chapter officers should attend, and all troops should send their OA Troop Representative (a youth leadership position) or another OA member to represent their unit, but all OA members are invited to attend these meetings. We are planning for a big year and need lots of help.
