How to Apply for Sea Scout Boatswain Positions
Calling all Sea Scouts! Are you ready to step up and be a part of expanding the Sea Scout program for the future?
If you answered ‘yes,’ then you’re in luck because we’ve got just the opportunity you’re looking for—applications are now being accepted for the Sea Scout Boatswain position.
Youth who are involved in Sea Scouts can apply for the Boatswain position on a national, regional, or area (flotilla) level. Sea Scouts can even apply to be considered for all three levels, or simply select the one for which they feel most qualified.
Deadlines
All submissions must be sent by February 15, 2017 for national Boatswain; March 1, 2017 for regional Boatswain; and March 15, 2017 for area (flotilla) Boatswain.
Qualifications
To be considered for the position of area (flotilla), region, and/or national Sea Scout Boatswain, a Sea Scout must:
- Be a current or past ship’s boatswain; or a current or past officer of the region, area (flotilla), or council; or a current or past officer of a Teen Leaders’ Council of the region, area, council, or district.
- Be recommended and approved by his or her council.
- Be a current primary registered Sea Scout in his or her council. Must be a registered youth in Sea Scouting during his or her complete term of office.
The Sea Scout boatswain will serve from June 1 through May 31 of the following year. That may seem like a far-off date, but the deadlines will get here before you know it. Head to the Sea Scouts’ website for more information, and fill out the Sea Scouts boatswain application to get started!
