Mark LaBaw Selected as a 2016 Silver Beaver Award Recipient – Northern Star Council BSA

Mark LaBaw, Scoutmaster of Troop 174 in Chaska, was selected as a 2016 Silver Beaver Award recipient in Northern Star Council.  The Silver Beaver Award is the highest adult recognition presented at the council level.  Honorees are selected based on volunteer service to youth, our communities, and Scouting.

In addition to serving as Scoutmaster, Mark is a member of the district training staff, he has served on the district committee and conclave staffs, and he is a frequent presenter at roundtable.  Prior to serving as Scoutmaster he was a long-time assistant Scoutmaster, Cub Scout den leader, and merit badge counselor.  He is a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow, and he is a District Award of Merit recipient.

Mark is a member of the Chaska Sno-Hawks snowmobile club, he teaches snowmobile safety to area youth, and he volunteers with local American Legion and VFW posts in the Chaska area.

• The Silver Beaver Award is the council-level distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America. Recipients of this award are registered adult leaders who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to the Council, other non-Scouting youth organizations, and community organizations. It’s given to those who do not seek it, but implement the Scouting program and perform community service through hard work, self sacrifice, dedication, and many years of service.

Please take a moment to congratulate Mark on this well-deserved honor, and make plans to attend the Council Recognition Dinner, Saturday,  March 18, 2017. Mark will be presented with his award that evening.

In addition to the Council Recognition Dinner, make plans to attend our District Recognition Dinner during our May Roundtable on May 4, 2017. It’s catered event at the Wayzata Country Club, and promises to be a great time. More importantly, it gives us a chance to recognize our outstanding District Scouters for a job well done.
