Scouts Collect Candy to Give to Troops Serving Overseas
With Veterans Day this week, there is focus on all those who have served in the United States military as well as those currently serving their country. The members of the Boy Scouts of America Daniel Webster Council wanted to find a way to recognize these heroes and do something to show their gratitude. Their answer: Halloween candy.
In connection with Operation Gratitude, the Scouts of Pack 290 and Troop 290, as well as others in the council, went out on Halloween night and trick-or-treated to collect candy that they could send to military troops serving overseas. The collection is part of the Operation Gratitude Halloween Candy Give-Back program.
Initially, the Scouts pledged to collect 10 lbs. of candy for the troops, but, as it turns out, they wildly underestimated how much they would be able to collect. In all, the Scouts collected 46 lbs. of goodies for the troops!
Thanks to the generous donations of the people of their community, these Scouts are providing an element of comfort to military personnel serving overseas during the holidays.
