June Roundtable – WHAT TO EXPECT – June 7, 2018 – 7:00PM
What to expect at this month’s Roundtable Meeting
The monthly District Roundtable meeting provides an information and training forum for adults involved as leaders in the Scouting program. Parents and children are welcome to attend. These meetings allow attendees from all parts of the Scouting program to:
◾ Discuss topics of interest, both formally and informally
◾ Learn new skills and program topics for your unit
◾ Learn about upcoming District and Council events
◾ Meet and exchange ideas with other leaders from the District
Roundtable is open to all adults involved with the Scouting program. Registered leaders are especially encouraged to attend.

Big Rock Topic – Year-round Recruiting – (gym)

Boy Scout Breakout Program – Troop and Patrol Awards – (Geo Lab – off the gym)
Looking for something different to do with your troop or patrol – something you can work toward as a group. Come hear about troop and patrol awards such as National Honor Patrol, National Outdoor Challenge Unit Award and many more. Have you already earned these awards? Come share your experiences with other units and help get them started toward these accomplishments.
Cub Scout Breakout Program – Webelos and Arrow of Light Transition From Parent-led to Boy-led Program – Presenters: John Dewey and Tina Ramacier – (gym)
There will be a general discussion on Webelos and Arrow of Light transition to the Boy Scout program for parents and adult leaders and on the notion of moving from a PARENT-LED program to a BOY-LED program. John will discuss the need to help the incoming Boy Scouts and parents understand the PATROL METHOD and the importance of having patrol leaders early on in the Webelos program so that when they do crossover to a troop, it becomes a natural step in progression, rather than a leap.
Patrol Method
- Serve with a small group of boys who are similar in age, development, and interests
- Work together as a team
- Enjoy friendship and sense of belonging
- Gain confidence serving in a position of responsibility
- Enjoy the achievements of the patrol and each of its members
Preparing for Summer – Summer is approaching and it’s time to start thinking about summer camps, summer programs, outdoor activities, hiking, camp-style cooking, Leave No Trace, and much, much more. Did you know about the Pack Summertime Award and what is required and how to plan towards your cub scouts achieving it? Help us, help you get the best out of the outdoors this summer season.
