2022 Spring BALOO Training
BALOO training covers topics from health and safety to the logistics of planning and running a successful camping trip for your pack. You’ll learn about program planning, meal preparation and food safety, camping gear selection, water safety, and campfire program planning, and you’ll get hands on experience with group games, skits and songs, and traditional Scouting skills like pocketknife use and safety, map and compass, knot tying, hiking, and first aid
One BALOO trained leader is required on all Cub Scout camping trips. Perfect for Webelos Den leaders! BALOO training allows Webelos den leaders to take their den camping independently of the Cub Scout Pack
Where: Stearns Scout Camp. 3303 County Rd 44, South Haven, MN 55382
Bring: Your own tent, sleeping bag, camp chair, personal items, appropriate clothing for the weather, water bottle, notebook, pen, day pack. Meals are provided from lunch Saturday through breakfast Sunday. Please indicate food allergies or dietary needs on the Registration form.
Other Information:
- One BALOO trained leader is required on all Cub Scout camping trips

- BALOO training insures your camping outings are covered under BSA insurance
- Training gives you resources for creating a fun camping program and saving money!
Step 1: Register and pay for the course on this website (course limited to 30 leaders). You will receive an email with additional information and instructions after you register.
Step 2: Complete the online BALOO modules at www.my.scouting.org in the Training Center. These need to be completed before the camping weekend.
Step 3: Review your registration materials carefully, including what to bring and when to arrive. Because you are part of the learning process for all of the participants, make careful note of the required attendance times and plan your schedule, including transportation time to camp.
